4 min read · Updated October 2026

Email tools, shop platforms and spreadsheets often refuse files above a certain number of rows. Splitting a big CSV into smaller pieces lets you import everything in several rounds.

When to split

  • An import says the file has too many rows.
  • Excel or your phone becomes slow with a big file.
  • You want to share a part of a list with each team member.
  • You are testing with a small sample first.

How to split

  • Open CSV Splitter and choose your file.
  • Enter how many rows each part should have.
  • Keep Repeat the header row on so every part is complete.
  • Download the ZIP and unzip it.

Choosing the size

Check the limit of the place where you will import. If it accepts 5,000 rows, use a little less, such as 4,900. The tool tells you how many files will be made before you download.

Naming

Parts are named with the original name plus part-01, part-02 and so on, so they stay in order when you sort the folder.

Frequently asked questions

What if I need more than 500 files?

Use a larger number of rows per file. The limit keeps your browser responsive.

Are rows lost at the split points?

No. Every row goes into exactly one file.

Is my data uploaded?
