How to Reorder, Rotate and Delete PDF Pages in One Place

3 min read · Updated October 2026

Scanned documents are often in the wrong order, with a few sideways pages and some blank ones. Seeing every page as a thumbnail is the easiest way to fix all of that together.

What you can do

  • Move a page earlier or later with the arrows.
  • Rotate a page that is sideways or upside down.
  • Remove pages you do not want, such as blank scans.
  • Check the final order before saving.

How to organise a PDF

  • Open Organize PDF and add your file. Thumbnails appear after a moment.
  • Use the arrows to place each page where it belongs.
  • Use the turn button for any page that is the wrong way up.
  • Use the cross to remove unwanted pages.
  • Press Save and download the new PDF.

Long documents

Thumbnails of a very long PDF can take a few seconds to load, especially on an older phone. If the document is huge, split it into parts first with Split PDF, organise each part and merge them again.

Before you save

Scan the thumbnails from the first page to the last. It is much easier to catch a mistake here than after you have sent the file.

Common mistakes

  • Saving before checking the final order.
  • Removing the wrong page. Your original file stays safe, so you can start again.
  • Trying to add pages from another file. Merge files first with Merge PDF.

Common situations

Pages end up in the wrong order after scanning a stack of paper in the wrong direction, after merging files in the wrong sequence, or when you want to move a summary to the front. Reordering fixes this without recreating the document.

Working with thumbnails

Page thumbnails let you see the whole document at a glance. Drag a page to its new place, or delete pages you do not need, and review the sequence before saving. Look at the content, not just the numbers, because scanned pages may not have printed page numbers.

  • Move one page at a time and check the thumbnails.
  • Delete duplicates and blank pages while you are there.
  • Rotate any sideways pages in the same session.

Saving safely

Save the reordered file under a new name and keep the original until you are sure that the result is right. Open the finished PDF and read the first line of each page to confirm that the story flows from start to end.

Planning the order before you start

For a large document, write down the order you want before moving pages. For a report it could be cover, summary, main sections, appendices. For an application it could be form, identity proof, supporting letters. A plan stops you from dragging pages back and forth.

Work from the beginning. Place the first page, then the second, and so on, rather than jumping around. After each group of pages, scroll through the thumbnails to confirm that the pages belong together.

When you finish, check that no page was dropped or duplicated by comparing the page count with the original, unless you deliberately removed some.
